Wednesday 9th September

19.00 CIPR Reception – free to all delegates.
20.00 Dinner – book in advance £30.

Thursday 10th September

19.00 Whisky tasting – free to all delegates.
20.00 Ceilidh with buffet – book in advance £30.

Friday 11th September

The conference finishes at around 14.30. If there is demand we will organise a round of golf on the University of Stirling’s own course and/or a walk up a local hill.

Now arranged are a panel discussion on public relations education over two decades featuring Dr Danny Moss, Manchester Metropolitan University, Professor Anne Gregory, Leeds Metropolitan University, and Sue Wolstenholme, consultant. The keynote speech on PR and professionalism will come from Dr Magda Pieczka, Queen Margaret University College.

Other presentations will come from many academics from Europe, US, Australia and New Zealand. A full list of participants and paper titles will be uploaded in the coming weeks.

Thank you to those who have already registered!

Those who have not yet registered please do so as soon as possible so that we can confirm numbers with the venue and finalise the programme.

Accommodation in the Management Centre is now very limited, remember to quote the conference title when booking as we have reserved rooms. There is other accommodation available in the area, some of which is listed here . Our recommendation is that you book soon as September is still the tourist season in Scotland.

Revised deadline for abstracts: Abstracts will now be accepted up until the end of April.
Early bird rate: The early bird rate has now expired!
Daily rate: The reduced daily rate for the conference is available only to those registered full-time on doctorates.
Abstracts will be blind refereed. If you submitted your abstract by the deadline of 1 April, you will receive confirmation of its acceptance, and/or suggestions for revision by the 30th April. If you submit your abstract by the extended deadline (30 April, see below) you will receive feedback by 1 June.

Conference Fees

Early birds (paid by April 1st): £175 per person (does not cover evening events)
Late Birds (paid after April 1st) £200 per person (does not cover evening events)
Full-time PhD students (conference only – attendance, coffees lunches) £30 per head per day, £60 per person for two days (does not cover evening events)

Events

We are planning to run a number of events in the evenings.

Wednesday evening: CIPR Reception followed by dinner(£30 per head)

Thursday evening: Whisky tasting and ceilidh (£30 per head).

Friday evening: If there is suficient interest we will be running a golf tournament on the Friday night (the University of Stirling has its own 9 hole golf course on campus). People looking for something a bit more energetic can come on a hike up Dumyat, the 418 metre hill just behind the campus.

This blog has been set up to support The Public Relations Professional Project, an academic conference to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the MSc in Public Relations at the University of Stirling

This conference will be held in the Department of Film. Media & Journalism at the University of Stirling on Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th and Friday 11th September, 2009.
